H.E. Dr. Titanilla Tóth paid an introductory call on The Hon. William D. Dar, Secretary of Agriculture of the Republic of the Philippines on 26 November 2020. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged views on the possibility of lifting the import restrictions in effect on Hungarian pork and poultry, as well as other potential areas of cooperation in agriculture. The Ambassador and the Secretary highlighted the areas most suitable for joint efforts, notably in agricultural technology and innovation, where Hungary is a leading country.

In Hungary, there are around 220 R&D centers working in various fields of agriculture which employ an estimated 2,000 researchers and scientists, and the country is home to Central Europe’s largest higher education institution on agriculture, the Hungarian University of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
